Klosters is a popular ski resort located in the canton of Graubünden in eastern Switzerland. The resort is famous for being Prince Charles' ski resort of choice. As such, the main cable car which takes skiers to the top of Gotschnagrat is called the ‘Prince of Wales’. At low season the population of Klosters is just over 4,000.

Klosters ski resort offers summer and winter guest passes, both of which provide guests with the ability to access various services either free or at a discounted rate. The passes will also allow you to take advantage of discounted prices for paragliding, horse riding, table-tennis, bowling, and access to the casino. The resort also offers tobogganing, snow-shoe trekking, curling, and horse-drawn carriage tours.

Klosters village offers numerous opportunities for evening entertainment. It has more than 40 restaurants, 15 bars, and 4 nightclubs. There is also a museum providing information about the local area and there are several art galleries.

How to get there

Since Klosters is one of the most popular ski resorts in Europe, transport links to the resort are very good.

• By air: The nearest airport to the resort is Zurich. It is possible to purchase flights from London to Zurich for around £50 return if you book early and remain flexible with your dates. However, Zurich is still approximately two and a half hours away from Klosters so you will need to take the train or hire a car at the airport.

• By train: Trains run every hour between Zurich and Klosters. The journey from the airport will take about two and a half hours. Train timetables and booking information can be found here.

• By car: There are numerous car hire facilities at Zurich airport but Klosters is also easily accessible from other parts of Switzerland. From Zurich you should follow the A1 motorway towards Chur, before exiting at Landquart. At Landquart, take the cantonal road 28 to Klosters. The Swiss motorway charges a compulsory toll of €26. Who does the resort cater for?

The Klosters ski resort caters for visitors of all ages and abilities. There are five main ski areas which provide facilities suitable for everyone. Jakobshorn is a great place for all skiers and snowboarders and hosts numerous mountain events throughout the season. Parsenn offers long downhill runs and night-skiing, whilst Pischa has three protected runs. Madrisa and Rinerhorn are great for families and beginners.

The resort is extremely popular with intermediate skiers but it also boasts a wide range of good ski and snowboard schools. The schools for children are located in Bolgen, which has a special Disney-themed slope. There is night-skiing available on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Selfranga lift area.

Klosters ski resort offers several packages which can help visitors save money and enjoy a better all-round skiing experience. These packages include the 'Week Package Sleep&Ski', which provides 7 nights of accommodation in either a hotel or apartment along with a 6-day ski pass for the area. Accommodation

Klosters has a wide range of accommodation, including hotels, apartments, and farmhouses. There are over 25 hotels in Klosters, ranging from 2* to 4* in quality, with the price of a double room ranging from £32 to £74 per night.

Slope Information

Klosters offers over 300 kilometres of ski trails, which include 21 blue runs (marked and perfect for beginners), 42 red runs (suitable for intermediate and experienced skiers), and 22 black runs (often steep and unmarked).

The resort also offers 50 kilometres of cross-country trails, which are great for people looking for something a bit more challenging. Some of these trails are beautifully lit up at night. The resort has an uphill transport capacity of 62,000 people per hour.
